Pula

An adventure in time-travel, historical charm and buzzing atmosphere

Pula is located south of Rjeka and is said to be one of the most attractive towns of the Croatian coast. This “port area” dates from Roman times and has many impressive monuments from its history, the most famous being the Amphitheatre.

After travelling on an overnight bus we arrived really early in Pula and were exhausted after having no sleep. The first thing we did was book into a gorgeous little hotel and slept for a couple of hours before setting out to explore the city.

Besides exploring around the Ampitheatre we spent hours walking the streets and exploring the beautiful parks and promenades. The town square was jam packed with markets and stores, restaurants and cafes and a lot of tourists. It was a public holiday and so this pretty city was a little overcrowded.

After buying lunch we sat in the harbour with our feet dangling off the peer as we planned our next stop, which was Venice.
